Flood of the Valley

September 21 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Click the title above for details.
For thousands of years, the Green and White River met in the Kent/Auburn Valley where the rivers fought for supremacy. Through time, several attempts were made to corral the watery titans, until purposed dams were put into place, including the Howard Hanson.

The dams ended the flood danger and ushering a boom of growth in the valley. The Howard A. Hanson Dam, was built just 10.5 miles from Black Diamond.

In this presentation, we’ll share stories of the dam and river. Everything from infrastructure to land access controversy and even explosions!

As always, this presentation is free for all to attend.
