Officers
PRESIDENT KEITH WATSON
Schooled in Seattle at Queen Anne High School and Seattle Pacific Collage. He served in the United States Submarine Service during the Cold War and had three business careers: Retail Management, Import Sales, and Kitchen and Bath Design & Implementation. He lived in Black Diamond in 1939 - 41 where is father (Warren N. Watson) was High School Principal. Keith has had a summer residence on Lake Twelve since 1952 and is retired living, with his wife Judy, in the Morganville section of Black Diamond. Keith is an officer with the United States Submarine Veterans Inc. Seattle Base and is a Commissioner on the Black Diamond Planning Commission. He served as Vice President of the Black Diamond Historical Society in 2006-2007. Keith is excited about "Black Diamonds Future Vision" that has been developed in the Comprehensive Plan for the city as well as looking at the rich heritage of the past.
VICE PRESIDENT DON MALGARINI
Born and raised in Black Diamond and now lives in nearby Enumclaw. He worked in and around the mines just prior to the closing of the underground operations. He spent 10 years as a volunteer for the Black Diamond Fire Department and served on several Labor Day Committees. His knowledge of the coal mines and their workings, and of the town history has been beneficial to the Historical Society. He became a member of the Board of Directors in November of 2003 and served as President of the Black Diamond Historical Society from 2005 to 2007.
SECRETARY DEE ISRAEL
Began her business career by working as a Clerk-Typist for the State of Washington, Department of Parks in 1966. In 1968 she transferred to State of WA, Dept of Transportation, and became a Clerk-Typist II. She was promoted to Assistant Office Manager in 1975 and became the Office Manager in 1987. She retired (with 30 years of State employment) from the State of Washington DOT in October 1996. She has lived in Black Diamond for 35 years and truly enjoys the small town atmosphere and history. She became a member of the Black Diamond Historical Society in August of 2000 and was elected Secretary in October of that year and has served continuously in that capacity.
TREASURER CLAYTON MEAD
Is a lifelong Black Diamond area resident. He has been very active in community services as far back as anyone can remember. Clayton is a retired logger, and has been involved in Little Leagues, the Presbyterian Church, the Community Center and the Eagles; to name a few. He and his wife Nancy became lifetime members of the Black Diamond Historical Society in 1990 and have been a great help in making repairs to the Museum, as well as to the community’s treasured artifacts. He is serving the Black Diamond Historical Society with integrity and business acumen as Treasurer since 1998.
