Black Diamond Cemetery

The Black Diamond Historical Cemetery is listed on the State and National Registers of Historical Places. The earliest gravestone is dated 1880. The Historical Society has taken a special interest in preserving the gravestones as a photographic record project. As a result of this project, it was discovered that the cemetery records were not complete, and contained many inaccuracies. This proved to be more of a challenge than photographing the gravestones in a cemetery that contained over 1100 graves.

Thanks to 4culture for a special grant to finance this project; and to the volunteers of the Society whom spent many hours researching, photographing, and cataloging; the project was completed.

The results of this project is a complete collection of photographs, and a database that is improved. (The database was corrected and amended when the information could be verified. There are still some questions that need to be answered, but some may be lost in the past forever.)

It is our pleasure to have this list available to the public, and we welcome any feedback to help us improve the accuracy of these records. For those who may not be able to visit the cemetery in person and wish to have a photograph of a gravestone, contact the Black Diamond Historical Society and a photo will be mailed to you for a $5.00 processing fee.

The database is MS Excel, and can be viewed by clicking the database link.
